Best Freon Repair EstimateFirst, let’s start off with some ways not to fix, find or deal with Freon leaks.

Home air conditioner Freon leak repair Teflon Tape. Teflon tape will not seal any joint in an air conditioning system. It is not designed to and the pressure of the gas will blow right by it.
Freon leakage repair Thread Sealant. Thread sealant around the shut off valves to the air conditioner does help to stop leaks, but is not approved for that application and could cause contamination of the air conditioning system.
Adding Freon Thread Sealant. Thread sealant on the service ports, where the Freon hoses connect, will not seal anything and most likely will contaminate the system causing severe problems the next time Freon is added. This application is very foolish.
How much does Freon cost Epoxy. Epoxy will not work on leaks, JB Weld or equivalent, on any type of leak on the system. I have tried with many different epoxies over the years to see if this easy fix could work. It does not.

How do I add Freon to my home air conditioner Don't Let Them Tear Your System Apart. There are a number of companies that simply take the air conditioning system apart into multiple pieces and then pressurize them to see which one leaks. When one of them is low, usually a week or two later (no A/C during the hottest time of the year) they'll tell you have to replace that part. They didn't find the leak. They only found which part of the system that they want to sell you.

Don't worry. There is a quick and clean little trick that will permanently repair most Freon leaks.

Compressor Bearing Damage: This can be caused by a lack of lubrication. Freon carries lubricating oil with it throughout your home air conditioner. Being low on Freon is like being low on oil in your car engine. It will cause problems.

Home air conditioning contractor Compressor Electrical Windings Damage: Freon cools the compressor. It is a large motor and the only way it will keep from overheating is if it transfers its excessive heat to the Freon. Your air conditioner being low on Freon is like running your car without water in the radiator.

Home air conditioning contractor Increased Electrical Bills: A lack of lubrication causes friction which causes the compressor motor to work harder and consume more electricity. Electricity usage increases as the temperature of the windings increase because electricity has a harder time crossing through wire at elevated temperatures. Low on Freon in your home air conditioning system also means fewer btus, less cooling, from your air conditioner and therefore it runs longer to achieve the same cooling.

This ice bends and distorts the coils causing physical damage.

Home air conditioning contractor Flood Damage: When the ice builds up, many inches thick, melts the water runoff overpowers the drain and runs down through he middle of the air handler or furnace. This causes transformer short circuits and circuit board damage and ultimately floods the home. A 3 Ton air conditioning system can remove more than 1 gallon of water an hour from the air in your home.
